The Port Alberni Bombers will have a new voice next season….some of the time. The club announced on Friday that Dean Fisher will take over from long time Alberni Hockey broadcaster Evan Hammond in the Bombers broadcast booth to provide coverage and support while Hammond is away with the BCHL’s Bulldogs on 93.3 The Peak.
Hammond was able to pull “double duty” last season for much of the year as the Bulldogs and Bombers had minimal conflicts. The 22-23 season offered new challenges as the two clubs play on the same night 13 different occasions.
Bombers President David Michaud was excited to add Fisher to the fold “Dean has a huge passion for the VIJHL and junior hockey. Our fans and families will benefit from that added passion and coverage for Bombers games and the players on the roster.”
The Bombers will open their 2nd season on September 9th against the Oceanside Generals.
