The Port Alberni Bombers came up short against the Victoria Cougars on Tuesday night by a final score of 4-3.
It was a wild game from the start. Both teams were itching to get on the scoresheet and it showed in the opening period. The Bombers would ultimately come out with a 3-2 lead thanks to Nathan MacDonald for the game’s first goal, as well as Blake Power for scoring the next two Bombers goals.
Shots in the first were 17-9 for the Cougars.
In the second, the scoring slowed down, but the Cougars would tie the game up at 3-3, and the Cougars were keeping up the pressure, posting 20 shots in the middle frame, but couldn’t manage to squeeze anymore by Bombers goalie Hondro Keelan.
The shots were 37-17 by the end of the period for the Cougars.
In the third, the Cougars would score the eventual game-winner just a little over five minutes into the final frame and would ride it out the rest of the way to hold on for a 4-3 win. Which would continue their undefeated streak and put their record for the season at 7-0-0.
The final shot totals were 51-21 for the Cougars. Both teams weren’t able to convert on the powerplay as well. The Bombers were 0/6 and the Cougars were 0/5.
The Bomber’s next game will is Wednesday night, September 29th as they will play host once again, this time against the Comox Valley Glacier Kings.
Puck drop is at 7:00 PM and tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for anyone under the age of 18. However, if you’re under 18 but are accompanied by an adult, you’ll be able to watch the game for free. Thanks to the San Group.
