Bombers double Cougars 4-2

The Bombers came into their home opener on Saturday night looking to bounce back from an 0-3 start to the season.

The opening frame was back and forth with both teams landing solid hits and getting some good chances on the offensive end. A couple penalties would see the Bombers be down a man twice in period number one but they were able to kill off both of them and even get some good chances to score short-handed. After the first the game was tied at zero with Victoria leading the shot count 11-7.

In period number two both teams started to produce. Victoria got on the board first when Jackson Estay picked the top corner to put the Cougars 1-0 almost exactly 10 minutes into the middle frame. It remained that score until Chase Pacheco netted his second goal in as Many games to tie it up 1-1 with 1:30 remaining in the second. But the Bomb Squad didn’t stop there with less than 10 seconds left in the period Pacheco found Sam Davidson for his first goal of the new year that put the Bombers up 2-1 at the end of two.

The Bombers kept rolling in the third with Aidan See netting his first of the year at 4:43. Victoria responded quickly with Issac Phillips pulling the Cougars back within one just over two minutes later. It stayed tight checking until 15:16 into the period when Solstice Tennant potted his first of the new season. Victoria would not get any closer as the Bombers would take this game by a score of 4-2. Lukas Toth was outstanding making 42 saves for his first win of the year. The Bombers improve to 1-3 meanwhile Victoria drops their second game in a row and they fall to 2-2.

The Bombers are next in action on September 21st when they host the Lake Cowichan Kraken
