The Port Alberni Bombers picked up in a crucial point in a 3-2 shoot out loss to the Glacier Kings on the road to head into the Christmas break.
The Glacier Kings took an early 1-0 lead on a Ty Moore goal just two minutes in. Gavin Mastrodonato tied it at 1-1 just over two minutes into the second, with Grayson Erickson picking up the assist. It wasn’t tied for long, as Austin Montgomery-Parsons scored less than two minutes later to put the Glacier Kings up 2-1 after two periods.
The Bombers would tie it up with nine minutes to play, as Nathan MacDonald scored with Jaydon Merritt assisting. Neither team found the net through the remainder of regulation, or overtime as the game went to a shootout.
The only scorer in the skills competition was Caileb Berge, to give the Glacier Kings the 3-2 win.
Shots were 40-22 Glacier Kings, with Ryder Lally earning the win while Callum Tung took the shoot out loss. The Bombers went 0 for 4 on the power play while the Glacier Kings went 0 for 3.
The Bombers next see action December 30th when they visit the Nanaimo Buccaneers.
