Bombers drop first game back 5-4 in a shootout

The Bombers came into Wednesday night looking to start 2023 on the right note when the Comox Valley Glacier Kings came to battle at the Bomber Base.

The 1st period started off with a bang when Blake Power scored 58 seconds into the opening frame to make it 1-0 for the Bombers. The scoring didn’t stop there as Carson Steel would net his 11th of the year at 4:26 and that would put the home side up by 2 at the break.

The second period started much like the first with the Bombers getting early offence. Greyson Erickson would score his 11th of the year just 3:34 into the opening period. The G-Kings would strike back at 12:53 of the middle frame to cut the Bomber lead to 2 heading into the room after 40 minutes.

The third period is was all Comox as the glacier kings would score 3 unanswered and take a 4-3 lead but with 17:40 remaining in the final period Chase Pacheco would tie the game at 4 and we would be off to overtime.

The extra frame would solve nothing and we would require a shootout to find a winner. The Comox net minder would stop both Bomber shots he faced in the shootout as Comox would take this one 5-4.

The Bombers are back at it Tomorrow night when they travel to Nanaimo to face the Buccaneers.
