Bombers drop hard fought 4-3 decision to Kraken in Lake Cowichan

 

The game was scoreless through the early stages of the first, before the Kraken took a 1-0 lead just short of nine minutes in as Kellan Brienan found the net, with assists to Jaxon Krupa and Carter Anderson. The Bombers would respond to tie it late in the frame, as Robbie Steel made it 1-1 at 18:12 of the first, with assists to Jackson Payeur and Hunter Harwood.

The Bombers took their first lead of the game 7:03 into the second, with Gavin Mastrodonato scoring from Grayson Erickson and Easton Sandberg. The Kraken replied to tie it up three minutes later, with Mitchell Billings scoring on the power play from Treyh Sidaway and Dallas Brown to make it 2-2 at 10:54. The Bombers would take the lead back late in the frame as Nathan MacDonald scored from Jaydon Merritt on the power play at 16:49 of the second to make it 3-2 after two.

The Kraken replied to tie it at 3-3 at 6:49 of the third, with Anthony Wilson scoring from Zack Vaillancourt and Carter Anderson. The Kraken would take a 4-3 lead with 6:38 to play as Aiden Eddy scored from Kellen Brienan and Carter Anderson. The Bombers would earn a five minute power play on the ensuing face off, but they couldn’t capitalize on it to tie the game as the Kraken made the lead stand.

Final shots were 29-26 Kraken, with Callum Tung and Josh Robins being the goalies of record. The Bombers went 1 for 5 on the power play while the Kraken went 1 for 1.

The Bombers conclude their regular season in a must-win game Sunday evening when they visit the Kraken.
