Bombers drop late decision to Kraken 4-2

The Port Alberni Bombers battled the Kraken at the Lake Cowichan Arena in VIJHL action Friday night and dropped a 4-2 decision that went down to the wire.

Lake Cowichan opened the scoring late in the first to lead 1-0 after one, but Nathan MacDonald scored on the power play to tie it just short of four minutes into the second, with Hunter Harwood assisting. The Kraken took the lead back three minutes later on the power play, but again the Bombers fought back to tie it as Brady McIsaac scored on the power play from Jackson Payeur at the midway point of regulation. The score stayed that way into the final two minutes of the third, when the Kraken scored the winner, and added an insurance marker to complete the scoring.

Shots favoured the Kraken 45-38, with Callum Tung taking the loss in net. The Bombers went 2 for 4 on the power play while the Kraken went 1 for 5.

The Bombers next see action Saturday night when they visit the Comox Valley Glacier Kings, a 7:30 start.
