Bombers drop second straight, 5-2 to Glacier Kings

The game was scoreless after 20 minutes, with the Glacier Kings outshooting the Bombers 16-12.

Comox Valley would draw first blood on a Logan Furlong marker 2:01 in, fro, Joe Weber and Parker Jorginson. Just 2:14 later, it was 2-0 on a Caileb Berge goal, from Matthew Teasdale and Jory Swanson. The Bombers got on the board on the power play five minutes later to make it 2-1, with Nathan MacDonald scoring from Jaydon Merritt Jackson Payeur. The Glacier Kings restored their two-goal lead on the power play four minutes later on Caileb Berge’s second of the night, from Matthew Teasdale and Jeremy Dewar to lead 3-1 after 40 minutes.

The Glacier Kings added to their lead with under nine minutes to play, as Matthew Teasdale made it 4-1, with assists to Caileb Berge and Jory Swanson. The Bombers didn’t quit, and got within two with 1:28 to play on the power play, as Brendan Almer scored his first as a Bomber, with Brett MacLean and Mason cannon assisting. That’s as close as the comeback came however, as Riely Wiens sealed the deal with 42 seconds to play, from Caileb Berge to make it a 5-2 final. 

 

Shots were 50-28 Glacier Kings, with Callum Tung and Andrew Lowen being the goalies of record. The Bombers went 2 for 6 on the power play, while the Glacier Kings went 1 for 4. 

 

The Bombers next see action Sunday night at 5:00pm when they visit the Westshore Wolves.
