Bombers drop third straight on the road, 3-2 to Kraken

The Bombers struck first, for the first time this season just over two minutes into the game when newly signed Chase Pacheco scored on a one-timer from the slot off a Blake Power pass.  Solstice Tennant also assisted at 2:33 of the period, for a 1-0 Bomber lead after the first.

Lake Cowichan drew even just one second past the midway point of the game, as Sukhraj Narwal potted a loose puck at the side of the net, with assists to Rylan Hildebrand and Andrew White to make it 1-1 at 10:01 of the second. The Kraken took their first lead of the game less than three minutes later, as Jacob Campbell scored on the rush to make it 2-1 at 12:42. The Kraken added to their lead with under two minutes to play when Sukhraj Narwal added his second of the night on a deflection out front to carry a 3-1 lead into the room after two.

The Bombers got back within one on the power play with eight minutes gone in the final frame, as Easton Sandberg bombed a one-timer home from the line with Beau Helmeczi and Gavin Mastrodonato assisting at 8:07 of the third. The Bombers came up with a big penalty kill to keep it a one goal spread in the late stages,  but they couldn’t convert on several late chances to net the equalizer as the Kraken made the lead stand.

The Bombers out shot the Kraken 27-23, with Brendan Wilson earning the win in net while Owen Bonthius took the loss. The Bombers went 1 for 4 on the power play, while the Kraken went 0 for 4.

The Bombers next see action Saturday night when they host the Victoria Cougars for their 2022-2023 Home Opener.
