Saturday night marked game number two of this current four game homestand when they welcomed the Nanaimo Buccaneers to the Bomber Base.
Period number one was tight checking and defensive as neither team was willing to give the other guy anything. Both goalies were solid and the game was tied at zero when the teams went to the room after 20 minutes.
In period two the Bombers would open up the scoring at 2:04 of the middle frame the Beau Helmeczi potted his 5th of the season to put the Bombers up 1-0. Then at 5:42 Mason Cannon joined the scoring netting his fourth of the season and it was 2-0 Bomb Squad. The scoring wouldn’t stop there for Port Alberni as Eason Sandberg put his 3rd of the year past the Buccaneers tender and it was 3-0 Bombers. The Buccs would get one before the period was over the the teams headed to the room with the Bombers leading 3-1
In the final frame the Bombers went into a defensive shell trying to close the game out but the Buccaneers didn’t go away just before the game would end Eric Van Loon would get sone past Plendl to cut the Bomber lead to one goal but that is as close as they would get Bombers take this game 3-2 the final and improve to 1-1 on this current home stand.
