Bombers edge Preds 3-2 in a shootout.

The Bombers braved the elements on Friday night when they took a trip south to visit the Saanich Predators.

The game started quick for Saanich when Michael Hoekstra score less than 5 minutes in to put the preds up 1-0. The Saanich defence was lock down in the opening period limiting the Bombers to 5 shots in the opening period. Both teams went 0-1 on the Powerplay and the Predators would head to the room with a 1-0 lead.

The second period was more of the same with the preds having the Lyons share of puck control and the majority of shots. The Bombers would get on the board at 15:06 when Chase Pacheco would score his 15th of the season to tie the game at 1. But Saanich didn’t go away easy as Michael Hoekstra scored his second of the game to send the preds to the room with a 1 goal lead after 2.

The third period was all Bombers as they controlled play for the majority of the third. A Powerplay goal for the bombers from Chase Pacheco would tie the game and send both teams to overtime knotted at 2 goals a piece. after regulation the bombers were 1 for 3 on the Powerplay and the Preds were 0 for 3.

A back and fourth overtime would solve nothing and we would need a shootout to find a winner. Lukas Toth stopped all 3 shooters he faced as Blake Power scored the shootout winner and the Bombers take this one 3-2. The Bombers are next in action on Friday December 9th as they visit the Campbell River Storm you can catch that game live on HockeyTV.
