The Port Alberni Bombers have qualified for the VIJHL playoffs in their expansion season. It took a 6-3 Campbell Storm win over the Lake Cowichan Kraken to finalize the standings and give the Bombers the final playoff spot in the North Division.
It will be a battle of David vs. Goliath in the opening round match. Campbell River set a franchise record as they went 40-4-2 during the season. The Bombers finished their inaugural season with a record of 19-28-2-1 and finished a whopping 41 points behind the league-leading Storm. Despite the statistical advantage the Storm hold, the experience for the young Bombers will be tremendous and they’ve proven during the course of the season that they could compete well against Campbell River.
The clubs have announced the first four dates for the series, and will confirm the balance of the schedule in the next day.
