Bombers Head Into Break With a Loss

The Port Alberni Bombers, hoping to get back into the playoff race, suffered a setback in losing to the team they are chasing, dropping a 5-1 decision to the Lake Cowichan Kraken on Saturday night at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
A Bombers win would have brought them to within three points of the Kraken, with one more game against the team who currently holds the fourth and final playoff spot. As things stand now, the Bombers are seven points in arrears of the Kraken with 18 games to play. Insurmountable, no, but now the Bombers will need help from other teams if they hope to chase down the Lake Cowichan club.
Zach Spafford, with his seventh goal of the season, was the only Bomber able to beat Kraken net minder Kellan Mooney.
The Bombers now take a break for the Christmas season before returning to the ice on January 5th when they travel to the Comox Valley and a date with the Glacier Kings. They return home on January 10 when they face the Victoria Cougars.
