The Port Alberni Bombers, outscoring their opponents in all three periods, cruised to an 8-2 victory over Kerry Park Islanders in Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) play on Friday night at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Holding leads of 2-1 after twenty minutes and 4-2 after forty minutes, the Bombers added four goals in the final twenty minutes to win going away.
Cole Campbell led all goal scorers with two goals on the night, the second while his team was a man short. Kash Nicklin, Kaeden Morosoff, with his first as a Bomber, Joel Dorn, Jeremy Gould, Jaxon Hinchey and Mahki Wandler rounded out the scoring in a well-balanced Bomber attack.
Newcomer Logan Meyer had three assists for the Bombers, while Nicklin added two assists and McCall Nault, Quinn Bouchard, Geon Park, Malik Oliva and Morosoff added single helpers.
Ryan Burroughs stopped 27 of 29 shots in recording the victory between the pipes for the Bombers. The Bombers outshot the Islanders 58-29 on the evening.
The locals were 2-for-8 on the power play while holding the Islanders scoreless on three opportunities with the man advantage.
The Bombers return to the ice on Saturday night when they host Campbell River Storm at the Multiplex. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
