Bombers in Search of New Head Coach & GM as Patterson Departs

The VIJHL’s Port Alberni Bombers are in search of a new head coach and general manager after Gaelan Patterson announced to the club he was moving on to a new endeavour with a U14 program being established in Duncan.

Patterson has been at the helm of the Bombers program since the club broke into the league as an expansion team for the 2021-2022 VIJHL season. Under Patterson’s leadership, the Bombers qualified for the playoffs each season.

“I’m grateful for the work Gaelan put into our program over the two years he was with our organization” said Bombers President David Michaud. “It’s the nature of the beast at this level that coaches will receive new opportunities and this was a good opportunity for Gaelan.”

The Bombers are now officially accepting applications to lead the program’s hockey operations as the next Head Coach and General Manager.

“This is an attractive position to come in here and build on the first couple of seasons the Bombers have had and help us grow into the type of team we want.  We think weccan be successful not only on the ice, but in preparing players to move up and play in the BCHL or the WHL.” said Michaud.  “When we created the Bombers a couple of years ago, we wanted to have a focus on younger players and helping them move up in the junior ranks. That is still our goal moving forward.”
