Bombers Lose in Overtime

The Port Alberni Bombers dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to Campbell River Storm on Sunday night in Campbell River.
In a game they never trailed, the Bombers surrendered a two-goal third period lead to send the game to extra time, making a hero of Beckett Trado, who scored for the Storm with 3:38 left.
The Bombers got off to a quick start – Daniel Betcher scoring 54 seconds into the contest, and led 2-1 after the first frame when Betcher scored his second of the night.
Jaxon Hinchey scored the lone goal of the second period to give the Bombers a two goal lead, and then after the Storm had pulled back to within one early in the third frame, Jack Barrett restored the two-goal lead at 4-2.
From there the Storm took over – Holden Smith and Dominic Grieco scoring less than four minutes apart to tie the contest, setting the stage for overtime.
The Bombers will now lick their wounds and get ready for a Wednesday night encounter with Westshore Wolves in Victoria, before returning home next Saturday when they will meet Nanaimo Buccaneers in a 2:00 pm game at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
