Bombers Lose To Islanders

The Port Alberni Bombers lost their second Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League game of the weekend, surrendering three second-period goals, en route to a 4-3 loss to Kerry Park Islanders on Saturday night in Mill Bay.
Nate Grinevitch, Reece Miyoshi with his second of the night, and Tomasz Ptaszek scored in the middle frame to give the Islanders a 4-1 lead after forty minutes, after the teams had skated to a 1-1 deadlock in the first period.
The Bombers did mount a comeback of sorts in the third frame as Malik Oliva scored twice, but, as on Friday night against Oceanside, it was too little, too late for the second night in a row.
Oliva now has eight goals this season, while Rylan Clark scored his first of the season in the first period.
The Bombers out shot the Islanders 46-29 on the night. Islanders net minder Carter Pushka was credited with the win, while the Bombers Joseph Naccarato, who, while facing less shots, may have made some of the tougher saves overall.
The Bombers were 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Islanders were 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
The Bombers next play on Thursday night when they travel to Nanaimo and a meeting with the Buccaneers, before heading to Parksville and a Saturday night matchup with Oceanside Generals.
The locals return home on Friday, November 7 for a tilt against Kerry Park, and then host Campbell River Storm the next night, Saturday, November 8. Both games start at 7:00 pm at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
