The Port Alberni Bombers (1-5-1) are playing host Wednesday night, as they will take on the Peninsula Panthers (4-4-1).
The Bombers are coming off an unfortunate loss to the Comox Valley Glacier Kings, as they came upon the wrong end of a 5-2 game on October 2nd. But there was one positive that came from their previous.
Which is the fact that the Bombers’ powerplay has started to become more productive when they have the man advantage. In their previous match against the Glacier Kings, both Bombers’ goals were on the powerplay. And doing that against the Glacier Kings is impressive on its own because heading into Saturday night’s contest, the Glacier Kings penalty kill was over 96%. Yet the Bombers were able to score two on the powerplay.
As for the Panthers, they are currently at the bottom of the stacked North Division, but that doesn’t mean they should be underestimated. The Panthers have a productive powerplay, which is currently at 26.5%. That’s sitting at third-best in the league. And for their penalty kill, it is fourth overall at 86.2%.
The Panthers also have league-leading scorer Riely Braun (9G, 12A, 21P) leading their offence. But is also getting support from, Logan Spiers (7G, 10A, 17P) and his brother Payton Braun (6G, 11A, 17P).
It will be yet another tough outing for the Bombers, but Blake Power (4G, 5A, 9P) and Nathan MacDonald (4G, 3A, 7P) continue to produce as they have been as of late, the Bombers could make it very interesting.
Tonight’s puck drop will be at 7:00 PM and will take place at the Alberni Valley Multiplex. Tickets will be available for $10 for an adult and $5 for anyone under 18. However, if you’re under 18 and are accompanied by an adult, you’ll be able to watch the game for free. Thanks to the San Group.
