Bombers Prevail Over Storm in Tense Affair

In what could be considered the most hotly-contested game of the 2025-26 Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) campaign to date at the Alberni Valley Multiplex, Port Alberni Bombers defeated Campbell River Storm 3-2 on Saturday night, leap-frogging the Storm and moving into third place in the VIJHL’s North Division.
Leading 2-1 after forty minutes on goals by Troy Zajac and Rylan Clark, the latter on the power play, the Bombers surrendered a Storm power player marker early in the third frame, before striking back just over one minute later as Logan Meyer scored what proved to be the winning marker giving the Bombers their second win of the weekend.
Meyer was named first star for his efforts on the evening while Joe Naccarato was named second star, stopping 43 of 45 shots sent his way in recording the win between the pipes for the Bombers.
Chase Pouchnik, Quinn Bouchard, Geon Park, Makhi Wandler and Malik Oliva added assists for the Bombers.
Elliott Turgeon and Noah Spencer scored for the Storm.
The Bombers return to action on Wednesday night when they host Lake Cowichan Kraken in a 7:00 pm start at the Alberni Valley Multiplex and then travel south to take on the high-flying Peninsula Panthers at the Panorama Recreation Centre on Friday evening.
