Bombers Ran Out of Steam Against Generals

After a hot start to the Saturday night contest, the Port Alberni Bombers fall to the Oceanside Generals by a score of 8-5.

It was a good start for the Bombers in this one, as they got off to a 2-0 start in the opening frame. With goals from Jack Payeur (4), which was on the powerplay and from Jack McKean, which was his first goal of the season. And it would stay that way going into intermission.

In the second period, the Bombers would take a 3-0 lead from Carson Steel (4), but the Generals would respond just eight seconds afterwards to make it 3-1.

Jaydon Merritt (14) would make it a 4-1 game just 71 seconds later, but it would only go downhill from here for the Bombers.

The Generals would then put on a clinic for the rest of the second period. As they would score four more times in a row to give themselves a 5-4 lead. And it would stand going into the third period.

And in the third period, the Generals would add three more goals to make it 8-4. That would be seven unanswered goals for the Generals. However, Merritt would add his second goal of the game and end the game with a final score of 8-5 for the Generals.

So while the Bombers were able to get off to a good start, it’s a sign that the team will need to learn from this and remember to keep the same amount of pressure for the full game. It will take time, but once the Bombers figure it out, they’ll be much more dangerous to play against.

The next Bombers game will be on Tuesday, November 23rd as they will host the Comox Valley Glacier Kings.

Puck drop will begin at 7:00 PM. Tickets will be available for $10 for an adult and $5 for those under 18. However, if you’re under 18 and are accompanied by an adult, you’ll be able to watch the game for free. Thanks to the San Group.
