Bombers Shutout by Panthers

The Port Alberni Bombers were shutout for the first time in the 2025-26 VIJHL season, dropping a 6-0 decision to Peninsula Panthers at the Alberni Valley Multiplex on Friday night.
In a contest that started ninety minutes late due to a traffic incident near Chemainus, the Panthers scored two goals in each period for the comprehensive victory.
Brendan Williams and Ethan Lingard got the visitors off to a quick start, scoring less than a minute apart before the game was two-and-a-half minutes old.
The next two periods were more of the same, Carson Harris and Williams scoring in the second frame before Harris and then Logan Barnes scored in the final stanza.
Peninsula outshot the Bombers 43-23 on the evening including a 21-2 advantage in the third period.
The loss leaves the Bombers in second-place in the VIJHL North Division, three points behind Campbell River Storm.
They now travel north on Saturday night as they meet the Comox Valley Glacier Kings in a 6:30 pm start at the Comox Valley Sports Centre, returning to home ice Saturday, October 18 when they face Nanaimo Buccaneers in a 2:00 pm start at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
