Jaydon Merritt got the Bombers on the board just 1:27 in, with Brady McIsaac assisting. The Buccaneers would draw even late in the period, with Alex Wienecke scoring at 16:41 for a 1-1 tie after 20 minutes.
Brady McIsaac gave the Bombers a 2-1 lead just short of six minutes into the second, with assists to Jaydon Merritt and Evan Vasarhely. Six minutes later, Sam Davidson found the net to make it 3-1, with Justin Osborne assisting. The Bombers struck twice in the final two minutes of the period to lead 5-1 after 40 minutes – the first from Grayson Erickson at 18:17, assisted by Carson Steel. Easton Sandberg would find the net just over a minute later, with Taylor Madsen and Nathan MacDonald assisting.
Brady McIsaac’s second of the game made it 6-1, into an empty net while shorthanded with under seven minutes to play, unassisted. The Buccaneers would make it 6-2 with under five minutes to play on a Max Richard marker, but the Bombers responded to conclude the scoring as Evan Vasarhely’s first career goal made it a 7-2 final, unassisted at 19:29 of the third to make it a 7-2 final.
Shots were 49-31 Bombers, with Callum Tung earning the win in net. The Bombers went 0 for 2 on the power play, and also scored once while shorthanded, while the Buccaneers went 0 for 5.
The Bombers next see action Tuesday, February 15th when they host the Lake Cowichan Kraken.
