Bombers top Glacier Kings 4-3 in Comox Valley

A rough and tumble affair at the Comox Valley Sports Centre saw the Port Alberni Bombers comeback from two separate deficits to top the Glacier Kings 4-3 Saturday night.

The Glacier Kings opened the scoring three minutes in, but the Bombers responded to tie it on a Mason Cannon marker late in the first assisted by Gavin Mastrodonato. Comox Valley went up 2-1 just over a minute into the second, but the Bombers again replied as Brady McIsaac tied it at 2-2 with just short of twelve minutes into the second, with Evan Vasarhely assisting. Just 1:05 later, the Bombers took their first lead of the game with Nathan MacDonald making it 3-2, with Brady McIsaac and and Easton Sandberg assisting.

The Bombers opened up a 4-2 lead on a Jackson Payeur power play marker with less than a minute gone in the third, assisted by Hunter Harwood and Nathan MacDonald. Fireworks erupted four minutes later, with a full scale line brawl seeing 10 players ejected. The Glacier Kings climbed within one with three minutes to play, but the Bombers made the lead stand to the buzzer for the 4-3 final score.

Shots were 36-27 Glacier Kings, with Keelan Hondro earning the win and game star honours. The Bomb Squad went 1 for 6 on the power play while the Glacier Kings went 0 for 2.

The Bombers next see action Sunday night at 8:00pm, when they visit the Buccaneers at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
