Bombers Win Second Game in a Row Against Predators 5-2

The Port Alberni Bombers have won their second game in a row as they defeated the Saanich Predators on Saturday night by a score of 5-2.

And while there were a lot of goals scored, the first period didn’t see any offence whatsoever. As neither team could find the back of the net.

The shots were 11-7 for the Panthers by the end of the first.

The second period saw the Predators open the scoring with the first two goals of the game. The opening goal was from Ashton Underhill (5) on the powerplay. Followed by Kaden Ryan (1) just a little over two minutes later.

And it would remain that way heading into the intermission. The shots were 13-12 for the Predators, making it 24-19 after 40 minutes.

In the third period, the Bombers would take over the game. Scoring five unanswered goals.

Blake Power (6) would score first from Terence Learmouth to make it 2-1.

Followed by Jaydon Merritt (4) on the powerplay that was assisted by Grayson Erickson that would tie the game at 2-2.

Brady McIsaac (1) would give the Bombers a 3-2 lead that was assisted by Logan Godfrey and Jaydon Merritt.

Hunter Harwood (2) would punch one in shorthanded off a Jaydon Merritt assist to double the Bombers lead 4-2.

And finally, Jaydon Merritt (6) would score once again to cap off his four-point night, which was assisted by Black Power and Taylor Madsen to make it a 5-2 final.

The shot totals of the third period were 16-8 for the Bombers and 35-32 in favour of the Bombers overall.

With this victory, the Bombers improve to 3-5-1 and their next opponent will be the Campbell River Storm. They will face off on Friday, October 15th at 7:30 PM in Campbell River.
