Bombers Winning Streak is Over After Losing 5-3 to Storm

The Port Alberni Bombers winning streak came to an end Friday night, at the hands of the Campbell River Storm by a score of 5-3.

The game started fast. The Bombers took the lead just five seconds into the game from the hands of Carson Steel (2) and was assisted by Justin Osborne. But the Storm would respond just over two minutes later by Justin Gyori (7) to make it 1-1. And it would remain that way heading into the first intermission.

The shots were 20-13 for the Storm for the first period.

In the second period, the Storm would take over. The Storm would add four more goals before the 10-minute mark of the second period. From Tyan Peacock twice (5) and (6) along with Carter De Boer (16) and Adam Gordon (2).

The Bombers would add one in the frame from Taylor Madsen’s first goal of the season that was assisted by Brady McIsaac to make it 5-2 Storm going into the second intermission.

The shots were 19-10 in the second period for the Storm. Having the total be 39-23 heading into the third.

In the third period, the Bombers would score the lone goal of the period from Justin Osborne’s first goal of the campaign which was assisted by Sam Davidson to make it 5-3. And that would end up being the final goal of the game.

The third-period shot totals were 15-8 for the Storm and 54-31 for the whole game.

Neither team was able to convert on the powerplay too. Bombers were 0-1 and the Storm was 0-3.

The next Bombers game is Saturday, October 16th as the Bombers will host the Lake Cowichan Kraken at the Alberni Valley Multiplex at 7:00 PM.

Tickets will be available for $10 for an adult and $5 for those under 18. However, if you’re under 18 and are accompanied by an adult, you’ll be able to watch the game for free. Thanks to the San Group.
