Naccarato Stars in Bomber Loss

The Port Alberni Bombers dropped their sixth game in their last seven outings, falling 4-2 to Nanaimo Buccaneers on Thursday night in Nanaimo.
The teams were tied at 2-2 after twenty minutes, but single goals by the Buccaneers in the second and third frames provided the margin of victory for the hosts.
Nanaimo jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after only three minutes, but Bomber goals by Carter Davidson and McCall Nault sent the teams to the first intermission deadlocked.
Davidson’s goal was his first in the VIJHL, while Nault’s goal was on the power play.
Joe Naccarato was the Bombers best player. The strapping net minder stopped 64 of 68 shots and was named the game’s second star.
Porter Williamson, Boston Cripps, Nate Barclay and former Bomber Zach Spafford scored for the Buccaneers.
The Bombers are back in action on Friday night when they travel to Campbell River for a meeting with the Storm.
Currently the Storm sit in fourth place in the VIJHL’s North Division, two points ahead of the Bombers. The Bombers do have one game in hand.
The locals return to the friendly confines of the Alberni Valley Multiplex on Sunday evening to face Nanaimo once again. Opening face-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm, one hour earlier than most Bomber starts.
