Wolves Prey on Bombers

In a game marked by “goals in bunches”, Westshore Wolves defeated Port Alberni Bombers 11-4 in Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) play on Wednesday night in Colwood.
The Wolves got things started with three straight goals to begin proceedings, only to have the Bombers counter with three of their own to knot the score at 3-3, before the Wolves scored a late first-period tally to retake the lead at 4-3 after twenty minutes.
The second frame saw the Bombers tie the contest again at 4-4, but seven straight tallies by the Wolves – four in the last four-plus minutes of the second period, and three more in the third stanza sealed the victory for the hosts.
Malik Oliva with two goals, and Jeremy Gould and Mason Smith with one tally each, were the Bombers marksmen. Quinn Bouchard had three assists for the Bombers, while Kash Nicklin, Grady Dragani, Jaxon Hinchey, Rylan Clark and Oliva had single helpers.
The Wolves had ten different goal scorers – only Trace Anderson with two markers had more than one goal. Kansys Seney had a goal and three assists, while Noah Gebicki had three assists as well in leading the Wolves to the win.
The Bombers were 1-for-4 on the power play, while Westshore was 2-for-3 with the extra attacker.

The Bombers remain eleven points behind Campbell River Storm, who hold the last playoff spot in the VIJHL North Division. They have seven games remaining in their 2025-26 regular season.
The Bombers next game is Saturday when they host the Storm at the Alberni Valley Multiplex. Action begins at 7:00 pm.

Saturday’s game is the first of four in a row for the Bombers on home ice.
