Bombers Lose Heart-Breaker in Shootout

Port Alberni Bombers deserved a better fate, but dropped a 5-4 shootout decision to Saanich Predators on Wednesday night at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Leading 4-3 with time winding down in the contest, the Bombers saw a bouncing, seeing-eye puck find its way into their net, as the Predators forced overtime with less than two minutes remaining in regulation time.
After overtime solved nothing, the Predators outscored the Bombers 3-2 in the shootout to escape with the win.
Kash Nicklin with his sixth and seventh goals of the season, Owen Ditzel with his eighth and Solstice Tennant with his third of the year, tallied for the Bombers.
Matthew Kuhnlein stopped 51 of 55 Predator shots on the Bombers goal, many of the outstanding variety.
The Bombers now travel to Nanaimo for a meeting with the Bucaneers on Thursday night.
