Bombers visit Kraken tonight in playoff spot battle

It’s yet another massive game in the battle for the final Playoff spot in the VIJHL’s North Division, as the Bombers (18-27-2-1, 4th North) head down Island for the first of two straight against the Kraken (18-28-1-1, 5th North) in Lake Cowichan.

The Bombers were in action last night in Nanaimo, where they won their third straight, 8-4 over the Buccaneers.

The Kraken last saw the ice Tuesday night at the Bomber base, where they lost their fifth straight, 8-0 to the Bombers.

This is the seventh head-to-head meeting of season for expansion franchises. The Bombers have a record against the Kraken of 3-2-1-0, while the Kraken are 3-3-0-0. The Kraken won the first head-to-head meeting, 7-6 in overtime at the Bomber Base on October 16th, before the Bombers responded with a 4-3 win four days later. The Bombers earned a 3-2 win on home ice on November 10th. The Kraken came out on top by a 4-2 score on November 26th in Lake Cowichan. Prior to Tuesday night, they won 3-1 way back on December 17th in Lake Cowichan.

The teams next see action, again head-to-head Sunday evening in Lake Cowichan. That contest will be the final regular season game for the Bombers. The Kraken season ends Monday in Campbell River when they visit the Storm.

Game time is 7:30 PM.
