Bombers Win on the Road

The Port Alberni Bombers defeated Nanaimo Buccaneers 7-3 on Thursday night in Nanaimo to pick up their third Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) victory of the season.
After trading goals with their opponents in the early going, the Bombers went ahead to stay when Anthony Duhamel scored his first VIJHL goal to put his team in front, 4-3, late in the second period. From that point Port Alberni added three more markers to win going away.
Jonny Timmons and Kai Verbrugge scored twice each for the Bombers, while Zach Spafford and Solstice Tennant added singletons.
The Bombers now travel to Campbell River and a meeting with the North Division-leading Storm on Friday night. The contest will be the third game in three nights for the Bombers. Puck drop at the Rod Brind’Amour Arena is set for 7:30 pm.
