The Port Alberni Bombers fell behind 4-0 after one period of play, but a concerted effort over the final two frames saw them get close before dropping a 6-3 decision to the Westshore Wolves in VIJHL action in Victoria on Wednesday night.
Three markers early in the third frame saw the Bombers close the deficit to one, at 4-3 Wolves, but two late goals by the Wolves made the final score 6-3 for the home team.
Owen Ditzel, with his second goal in as many games, Zach Spafford and Kai Verbrugge scored for the Bombers. Verbrugge also added an assist, while Jonny Timmons added two helpers.
The Bombers now turn their attention to Friday night, when they travel to Comox to take on the Glacier Kings.
