Three Locals Commit to Bombers

The build has begun for the Port Alberni Bombers.

The club announced on Wednesday the signing of a trio of Port Alberni natives in 2005 born Aidan See, 2004 born Blake Power, and 2004 born Grayson Erickson.

When the expansion team was announced, they made it known that a priority would be placed on adding local talent to the Bombers roster.  The three signings are an indication of that plan coming to fruition.

The additions of See, Power and Erickson add instant credibility for the upstart franchise.

Bombers head coach and general manager Gaelan Patterson understands the impact of the trio committing. ” We are very excited with the signing of three hometown boys in Aidan See, Blake Power and Grayson Erickson.  These players will each make a significant impact with our program next season and all three players have tremendous potential.  We’re looking forward to seeing them develop and help them take the next step.”

If there was one theme from the players, excitement was the word of the day.

“I’m excited to play in my hometown for the Bombers and I’m looking forward to being a part of their 1st season in the VIJHL” said Aidan See.

Blake Power said the decision was easy. “Signing with the Bombers was an easy decision for me, not only does it allow me to play high level hockey, but it also lets me stay at home with my family and friends. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the team can do this year.”

Grayson Erickson meanwhile echoed the sentiments of his new teammates. “It was an easy choice to sign here and stay in Port Alberni. I’ll be able to graduate with my friends while still being able to play hockey at a high level will be an amazing opportunity for me. I’m looking forward to this year and can’t wait to get started.”

The Bombers are excited to add more local players to the fold, and are expecting another set of announcements soon.

The 2021-2022 VIJHL season gets started the week of September 8th.  The Bombers are expected to announce their schedule shortly.
