Bombers Defeat League Leaders to end Home Campaign

The Port Alberni Bombers, playing some of their best hockey of the season during the last two weeks, capped off their home schedule with a 5-2 win over Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) overall leaders, Peninsula Panthers on Saturday night in front of 382 fans at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Leading 3-2 going into the final frame, the Bombers scored two unanswered goals in the final twenty minutes to secure a much-deserved and comprehensive victory.
Kash Nicklin led the Bombers with two goals, while Joel Dorn, in his first game back from injury, Ryan Christenson and Carter Davidson scored the others.
McCall Nault, Jaxon Hinchey, Simon Holubar and Eduard Mishikov added assists.
Ryan Burroughs, who was named the game’s second star, stopped 46 of 48 shots between the pipes for the Bombers including twenty-four saves in the third period.
The Bombers won the special teams battle, going 1-for-4 with the man advantage and holding the Panthers off the score sheet in four opportunities when the visitors had the extra attacker. The Panthers went into the contest leading the league in both categories.
The Bombers wrap up their 2025-26 campaign in Nanaimo on Thursday night against the Buccaneers. The game is scheduled to start at 7:15 pm at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
