Bombers Drop 10 Against Buccaneers

The Port Alberni Bombers put on a clinic Saturday night. As they dominated the Nanaimo Buccaneers 10-2. Which is now the most goals scored in franchise history. This is also the second time the Buccaneers have allowed 10 goals in a game this season.

From the start of the game, it was all Bombers. Getting off to a 3-0 lead within the first ten minutes of the first period. Jaydon Merritt (8) would open the scoring with a shorthanded goal, followed by Blake Power (7) and Grayson Erickson (2).

The Buccaneers would add one just 26 seconds after Erickson’s goal, but they would still be down 3-1 going into the first intermission.

In the second period, the Bombers would add three more goals and the Buccaneers would get another as well to have it a 6-2 hockey game by the end of the period.

Bombers’ goal scorers were Nathan Macdonald (9), Carson Steel (3) and Justin Osborne (2).

And in the third period, the Bombers would keep piling up the goals. MacDonald would score his second of the game, which would be his 10th goal of the season.

Then Merritt would not one, not two, but three more goals in the third period to gap off a four-goal, five-point night performance. Merritt’s first three goals were also scored while shorthanded.

With those four goals, Merritt now leads the Bombers with 11 goals on the season. As well as leading the team in overall points with 22.
