The Port Alberni Bombers suffered a tough 2-0 loss to Oceanside Generals on Friday night at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Playing at home for the first time this season the Bombers held their own against the reigning Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League champions, but goals by Jacob Thomas, with his fifth goal of the season, and Tyson Pauze with his first tally of the campaign proved to be enough for the visitors. Thomas’ goal came on the power play.
The stars of the piece were the goaltenders. Hunter Farrer stopped all 25 shots he faced in the Generals net, while the Bombers’ Damien Knackstedt made several quality saves in stopping 33 of the 35 shots fired his way.
The two teams are back at it again on Saturday night, this time at Oceanside Place in Parksville. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
