Bombers host Oceanside Generals in Home Opener

The Port Alberni Bombers, after opening their regular season with two games on the road, return to the friendly confines of the Alberni Valley Multiplex to host the reigning Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) champion Oceanside Generals on Friday night at 7 pm.
The Bombers record currently stands at one win and one loss early in the 2023-24 VIJHL season, while their opponents come into the game sporting an unblemished 2-0 record to start the campaign.
A quick look at the Bombers roster shows 15 rookies on the team, and one of those rookies, Kash Nicklin, a Port Alberni product, has gotten off to a quick start, tallying three goals and one assist in his first two games at this level. Another rookie, goaltender, Damien Knackstedt, recorded a victory in his first game, last Thursday’s 3-1 win over the Nanaimo Buccaneers in the Hub City.

The Bombers announced on Thursday that Kai Verbrugge has been named captain for the 2023-24 season. In addition, Solstice Tennant and John Shields have been named alternate captains.
