The Port Alberni Bombers, playing one of their better games of the 2023-24 season, dropped a 6-5 Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League decision to Saanich Predators on Friday night at George Pearkes Arena.
Looking to exact revenge for a 7-0 defeat at the hands of the Predators last Saturday in Port Alberni, the Bombers trailed 3-0 and 4-2 only to play themselves back into the contest and went into the third period tied with the hosts at 4-4.
The third period was more of the same, the Predators regaining a two-goal advantage, before the Bombers rallied to claw back to within one, but it was too little, too late and the Predators escaped with the victory.
Jett Ronning and Landon Turgeon scored two goals each for the Bombers, with Jonny Timmons adding the other marker.
The Nanaimo Buccaneers are the next opponent for the Bombers, as they invade the Alberni Valley Multiplex on Sunday evening. Opening face-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
