The Port Alberni Bombers are proud to announce that goaltender Callum Tung is making the jump to the BCHL’s Alberni Valley Bulldogs for the 2022-2023 BCHL Season.
Tung joined the Bombers last October after graduating from the BCEHL’s Vancouver NE Chiefs. Tung quickly became a fan favorite after becoming the Bombers number 1 goaltender. Tung finished his rookie year in spectacular fashion as he posted a .951 save percentage in the playoffs as he nearly led the Bombers to a opening round victory against the top-seeded Campbell River Storm. Tung’s heroics included stopping 79 of 81 shots in a OT loss.
Joe Martin and the Bulldogs are hopeful the extra work Tung saw as a Bomber will help him in his transition to Junior A hockey. “In his first year of junior, Callum was leaned on heavily. He learned lots, and played a lot. We believe this experience has helped shape him into a very strong BCHL goalie.
The Bombers staff are hard at work building’s next years club! The season opens in early September at the Bomber Base.
