Bombers Get Revenge Over Kraken in 4-3 Win

The Port Alberni Bombers didn’t have to wait long to get back at the Lake Cowichan Kraken. As the Bombers defeated the Kraken 4-3 on Wednesday night.

After a thrilling game last Saturday that saw the Bombers come back from a 6-2 deficit, but it was the Kraken who ended coming out with the win in overtime 7-6. Wednesday night would be hard to replicate, but the two teams sure tried early on.

In the opening frame, five goals were scored between the two teams. Kraken and Bombers would trade goals back and forth, but the Bombers would go into the first intermission with a 3-2 lead.

The Bombers’ goal scorers in the first period were Hunter Harwood, twice, and Nathan MacDonald.

The shots were 21-10 for the Bombers.

The scoring would dry up in the second period, as the Kraken would score the lone goal in the middle frame to make it a 3-3 tie going into the third period.

The shots were even at 13-13 for the two squads at the end of the second period.

But in the third period, the Bombers would score the eventual game-winning goal from Gavin Mastrodonato’s first goal of the season to seal a 4-3 win for the Bombers.

The shots in the third period were 13-8 for the Kraken, but the Bombers overall outshot the Kraken 42-36.

Neither team was able to convert with the man advantage. The Bombers were 0-4 and the Kraken was 0-3 on the powerplay.

The Bombers’ next game will be Thursday, October 21st at 7:00 PM at the Archie Browning Arena in Victoria as they will take on the Victoria Cougars.
