The Port Alberni Bombers return to home ice for the first time in 2024 when they face Victoria Cougars on Wednesday night at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Coming off a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Comox Valley Glacier Kings in their last start, the Bombers deserved a better fate, and hope to rectify the situation with a victory over the Cougars, who currently sit in first place in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League’s South Division.
The Cougars hold a 3-0 series lead over the Bombers and their .750 winning percentage is second in the VIJHL, trailing only Campbell River Storm in that category.
Although trailing 3-0 in the season series, the Bombers can take heart in knowing they have played better each time the two teams have met. Losing 8-2 and the 3-0, the locals were close, losing 5-4 the last time the teams faced off against each other.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
