The Port Alberni Bombers dropped a 2-0 decision to Comox Valley Glacier Kings to open the 2024 portion of their Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League season.
Recently acquired net minder Dylan Dykstra was the Bombers’ player of the game, stopping 42 of 43 Glacier King shots.
Joe Weber in the first period, and Logan Furlong with an empty-net goal in the last minute of regulation time, were the Comox Valley marksmen.
The Bombers return home to face Victoria Cougars next Wednesday at the Alberni Valley Multiplex. Face-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
