Bombers Couldn’t Tame Wolves in 4-3 Loss

The elusive three-game winning streak would not happen for the Port Alberni Bombers. As they fell to the Westshore Wolves by a score of 4-3 on Saturday night.

After winning the first two of their current five-game homestand, the Bombers were looking to make it three in a row when the Wolves came to town, but it was not meant to be. Even with the return of Jaydon Merritt to the Bombers roster.

In the first period, things looked promising. As Brady McIsaac (8) would open the scoring, but the Wolves would respond with two goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

In the second period, the lone goal was from Merritt (12) from a shorthanded penalty shot to tie the game a 2-2 going into the third period.

In the third, the Bombers would take the lead again from Merritt’s second goal of the game to make it a 3-2 game.

However, the Wolves would take over and score two goals a little over two minutes apart to take this contest by a score of 4-3. Even though Merritt had a three-point performance in his Bombers return (2G, 1A).

The final shot totals were 44-27 for the Wolves and the Wolves went 0-4 on the powerplay. While the Bombers did not get a powerplay opportunity.
