Bombers fall 7-1 to Islanders

After a game that saw them take 28 penalty minutes the Bombers were looking for a more disciplined effort on Saturday night versus Kerry Park.

The first period was tight checking and chippy with both teams trading hits and shots until just over a minute remaining Robbie Steel took a 4 minute double minor for spearing that put the bombers behind the eight ball.

Less than 20 seconds into powerplay Jack Strom opened the scoring for Kerry park making it 1-0 after 20 minutes.

The middle frame was all Kerry Park after a stream penalties had the bombers down a man for over half the period. Two goals from Kellan Bates and one from Lukas Tokic had the Islanders firmly in control after the second period by a score of 4-0.

The third was much of the same as the Bombers just couldn’t seem to stay out of the box on a night that saw them take 62 penalty minutes. The bombers did find the back of the net once as Rocky Nordvie potted his first in the VIJHL and first as a Bomber. The team is back at it next Friday night as we visit the Lake Cowichan Kraken.
