Port Alberni Bombers were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Friday evening, dropping a close 4-2 decision to Peninsula Panthers at the Panorama Rec Centre.
Although the Bombers never led in the contest, the outcome was always in doubt until Gaetz Barrie put the Panthers ahead 4-2 with an empty net goal at 19:09 of the third frame.
Griffen Webb and Kai Verbrugge scored for the Bombers. Webb, an AP from Victoria playing his first game as a Bomber, also added an assist on Verbrugge’s goal.
The Bombers return home Saturday night, when they host Saanich Predators in a 7:00 pm start at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
