Bombers Pillage Buccaneers

The Port Alberni Bombers defeated Nanaimo Buccaneers 8-2 on Friday evening in Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League play at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
The eight Bomber goals equalled their season high, which they set in their previous game, an 8-4 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday night in Nanaimo.
Original Bomber Aiden See got things going for the Bombers on his return to the team, scoring his first of the season late in the first frame, while Jonny Timmons with three goals and Kai Verbrugge and Kash Nicklin with two markers each were the other Port Alberni marksmen.
Nicklin also added two assists, as did Owen Ditzel and Zach Spafford, while Anthony Duhamel garnered three assists on the evening. Verbrugge and See also added helpers, as did another returning original Bomber, Mason Cannon.
Dylan Dykstra, appearing in his first game as a Bomber stopped 37 of 39 shots in his debut between the pipes.
The Bombers have a quick turnaround as they return to the Multiplex tomorrow (Saturday) evening for an encounter with the Lake Cowichan Kraken in a game that has playoff implications. The locals currently sit five points in arrears of the Kraken who hold the last playoff spot in the North Division.
Puck drop Saturday night is 7:00 pm.
